Between the Buried and Me Live at the Wiltern
By The Rockvine
We sent Scoob over to the Wiltern again to check out Between the Buried and Me opening for Children of Bodom. We also got an interview for you to check out a little later - for now here's the live review.
Between the Buried and Me could best be described as hardcore’s answer to Dream Theater. The band did tour with them along with Opeth previously this year. However, now BtBM is on tour opening up for the Black Dahlia Murder and Children of Bodom. To me, they seem like the oddball out on this tour.

For having four albums out now, BtBM is still opening up for bands and their stage presence is a little lacking when performing on a giant stage. The band is so progressive, the guitar players can only stand in one spot while performing the song’s arrangements. I think I would have preferred to see BtBM on a small stage in a much smaller venue. It would have made the band appear as a close knit unit working together to perform incredible rhythms, intricate breakdowns, and face-melting sweeps.

BtBM are incredibly talented musicians and all have a deep love for music but for this show, their recordings outshine their live performance.
