Every once in a while we come across a brand new band that we want to introduce to our loyal Rockvine viewers. This is one of those times where we caught a band early - at their first show actually!
Thanks to Scoob for this one.
Friday, Sept 5, Death Valley Pornstar performed at the world famous Whiskey A Go-Go. This was the band’s first show and they delivered in true, down n’ dirty, rock n’ roll fashion. I describe the band’s sound as The Butthole Surfers with a chick singer. However, the band sites The Beatles as an overall influence as well as Queens of the Stone Age.
This band has one goal in mind; to rock people’s faces off and leave a path of destruction and debauchery in their wake. This is merely the beginning for Death Valley Pornstar, who will surely make headlines and evolve to new heights of rock n’ roll madness wherever they perform. Be sure to check them out at

I would live to give an honorable mention to singer/songwriter Melinda Ortner, who performed before Death Valley Pornstar. Melinda came out with a full band consisting of her singing and playing keyboards, upright bass (it’s always nice to see someone perform with an upright bass), electric guitar, and drums. Melinda has an amazing voice and her music has a nice jazzy thing going on. She is definitely worth seeing live. For updates on when she will be performing again, go to
